Please follow the below steps.

Method 1: Disable Antivirus software
Disable the Antivirus software temporarily and check if it helps.
Note: Antivirus software can help protect the computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable the antivirus software. If you do have to temporarily disable it to install other software, you should re-enable it as soon as you're done. If you are connected to the Internet or a network during the time the antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

After disabling the antivirus software, I suggest you to start the computer in safe mode with the basic graphics card driver and then try to update the graphics card driver.

Method 2: Safe Mode with Networking
I suggest you to Start Windows in Safe Mode with Networking and check if it helps.
Safe Mode is a troubleshooting option for Windows that starts your computer in a limited state. Only the basic files and drivers necessary to run Windows are started.
To use a Safe Boot option, follow these steps:

1. Restart your computer and start pressing the F8 key on your keyboard. On a computer that is configured for booting to multiple operating systems, you can press the F8 key when the Boot Menu appears.
2. Select an option to “Safe mode with networking” using the arrow keys on the keyboard when the Windows Advanced Options menu appears, and then press ENTER.

Method 3: update drivers.

Before you update the drivers, please enable the computer to get automatic updates,

Download and install drivers
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/all-drivers

Note: The above links applies to Windows 10 as well.

You may also download the latest graphic or NVIDIA drivers from the manufacturer’s website and install it on your computer.

After updating the drive on your computer, restart the computer in to normal mode and check. If the issue still persist, I suggest you to again boot in to Safe Mode environment and follow the method provided below.

Method 4: DISM

1. Open Command Prompt with administrator access.
2. Type Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
3. Type Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
4. After the repair is complete, restart your computer and try updating now.

Now restart your computer in normal mode and check.
